TMC Review: Hoy Bikes

TMC Review: Hoy Bikes

From scooters to cars, trikes and skateboards our garage is exploding with anything the kids can race on. So when Hoy Bikes asked if they could send over one of their new range of bikes for Nell to test drive we jumped at the chance. Now if anyone is going to design a bike you should buy for your kids its going to be, a six Olympic gold medal winning and 11 world titles, resulting in a knighthood from Her Majesty, Sir Chirs Hoy. A man with thighs that could crush a village and a bloody lovely Scottish accent. Should I carry on or have you already bought one?? - Sorry, I should add Chris does not come with the bike.

If I think back to my childhood riding a bike was certainly part of it. I remember my older sister sitting on the seat whilst I was sweating my ass off peddling and steering, for whatever reason we got into hysterical laughter, you know when you cant breath and become completely weak, well that happened and we ended up crashing and going over the handle bars on to the tarmac. I never said it was the best memory but it has stuck with me and still makes me laugh.

Our bike is called The Bonlay Bike retailing at £465.00 their best selling children's mountain  bike, each bike has been named after important parts of Hoys life, Bonlay being the first place Chris Hoy rode his mountain bike, I thought this was a lovely touch you can tell a lot of thought and passion has gone into his inventions. One of the initial things I noticed about the bike apart from being pleased it wasn't covered in my little ponies, was how light it was, ideal for when the kids give up half way round the lake and I have to carry them the rest of the way. This is a conscious factor by Hoy, children bikes are usually heavy and harder to ride, Hoy has worked on lighter bikes with narrower cranks - bike lingo for the feet being closer together resulting in huge improvement to the child riding. What better week to receive a bike than this one. Nell has wanted to practise her 'no stabilisers bike' from the moment she gets up. A brilliant investment if you ask us, hours of fun that will last to be passed down through all her brothers.
