Our essential pregnancy items
When pregnant your body goes through so many changes due to all the hormones surging through you, sometimes its hard to keep up. Your skin being one of the main things to come under fire. If you don't end up with some kind of weird rash or the ever dreaded battle scars that are stretch marks then you must have been a pretty well behaved Donkey in your past life. Sometimes no amount of oily products and luxurious creams will prevent the inevitable but there is no harm in treating your body in some indulgence whilst its working the hardest it has ever worked. We decided to share with you the products we simple couldn't do without when we are pregnant.
We LOVE a pair of Pjs. In fact if it was down to us we would wear them 24/7 and what better excuse to live out our dream than when pregnant! Lauren was unfortunate enough to suffer with Pupps rash during the majority of her pregnancy and if she wasn't bathing in oats she was slinking around in her M&S silky PJs. Comfort was paramount but who says Pjs can't be stylish too.
We both used Bio Oil religiously when pregnant, not only does it improve the look of stretch marks that have already formed but it replenishes the skins natural oils which will improve elastity helping to prevent future scars forming. This is best used just before bed as the oil does tend to sit on your skin and can stain clothes. Spend your time massaging the oil into your skin to really target the lower layers and enjoy the bonding time with your bump.
We are both big fans of Kiehls products. Kiehls Ulta Facial cream was no stranger to our regular beauty regime. This light weight, non perfumed face cream is ideal for pregnancy skin, natural enough to not upset the every changing sensitivity. When pregnant you are also more sensitive to the sun and burning through sun damage can leave lasting affects on your skin so Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream SPF 30 is ideal when it comes to protecting your pregnancy skin from the elements.
Bloom & Blossom AntiStretch Mark Cream is another product for the body, again targeting preventing stretch marks. This time as a cream rather than an oil, which means you can apply in the morning after your shower and not have to waltz around in the nude while it soaks in hoping the postman doesn't knock.
We love a good candle and it doesn't take much to give us a reason to add another to our collection. So when we came across a pregnancy specific candle we had to know more. HYP Candles are all natural pregnancy candles packed with essential oils and they smell flipping great. You can choose from breathe, calm, energise or restore to sniff on while you relax in your silky pjs.
If you are anything like Jess and suffer with bad hips, an uncomfortable back or misaligned pelvis during pregnancy then these two will be lifesavers! Serial Maternity Support Belt and a Swiss Ball. The Belt is great support and helps keep you in correct alignment as well as taking some of the strain away, whilst the Swiss ball helps to stretch out any areas that become tight such as lower back and also comes in handy further along your pregnancy when you want to encourage labour.
Last but certainly not least, LOTS OF WATER!! Water should be your best friend, its brilliant for you skin, another fighter against stretch marks and will also help prevent water retention. So drink up girls. Cheers!
